CNN has created CNN Films, its mission, to secure feature-length documentaries for air on CNN and CNN International, alongside theatrical distribution. The move is part of a wider strategy to acquire original non-fiction content to complement their news programs.

The Happiest Place is Bhutan

The small Himalayan country of Bhutan, whose policy of measuring happiness has inspired the UN and other countries to include well-being as a development goal, is making quite a stir on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. "The Happiest Place", a documentary film directed by Palo Alto-based independent filmmaker Ben Henretig, explores Gross National Happiness (GNH) in Bhutan through the lens of a human-powered, border-to-border crossing of the country. With less than a week left, the project is the top-funded film campaign live on Kickstarter with over $83,000 raised and 700 supporters - 182% of their original goal.

The Walking Dead, and that's just the main characters!

After a long pause, when I just couldn't take it anymore, I gave up on The Walking Dead a quarter of the way through episode 4 of series 2. I originally came to the show because of Zombies, not having seen or even been aware of the 'Graphic Novel' on which it's based, those adult-nerd comics seem to me to be no more than storyboards for the next Hollywood movie or series, and I find I enjoy imagining the scenes the writer conveys in his prose than a cartoon were the artist has saved the viewer from the mental strain of too many words and with the action painted in for them.
