According to independent research conducted by casinoenlinea.es, Spain spent €2.8 billion subsidizing organized bullfights in the last five years alone. This despite 72.1% of Spaniards having no interest in bullfights. Moreover, these bullfights have resulted in the deaths of more than 53,000 bulls during this period.
Every year, €564,000,000 is spent on subsidies for organized bullfights. This despite research from the Instituto de Investigación Gallup showing that 72.1% of Spaniards are no longer interested in bullfighting.
Moreover, during those bullfights, a lot of innocent bulls are being killed, purely for fun. Reports from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior show that in the last five years in Spain alone, some 53,000 bulls have been killed during bullfights.
Casinoenlinea.es has created an online petition to help put an end to bullfighting. The online gambling industry has already stopped taking bets on bullfighting, but bets continue to be placed in the arenas and at bars. Success from the petition would free up vital funds for the Spanish state, as well as saving thousands of bulls from dying in the name of a sport most Spaniards no longer care for.
