The sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes is to be re-written and reworked by Mark Bomback, screenwriter of Live Free or Die Hard and the recent Total Recall remake. It's name - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he's been brought in by 20th Century Fox after Scott Z Burns, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa have all previously had a go. Bomback is not new to the apes, having done some uncredited writing on the first film.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, (Maybe they can shorten it to Dawn on Apes Planet) sees the of motion-captured Andy Serkis as Ape hero, Caesar. He's carved out a niche for himself there. Anyone wanting to check out the human Serkis in his own jowly flesh- check him out in Dexter Fletcher's excellent film, Wild Bill.
The Director is Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and Peter Chernin is back as producer. No actors have signed on yet. And we're looking forward to its release on May 23, 2014.
