Arnold Schwarzenegger Signs On For Conan

Arnold Schwarzenegger has jumped straight back into the movies with a vengeance since his Governorship of California ended. Latest project for the Ex-Governator? He's coming back as Conan in, 'The Legend of Conan' a direct sequel to the  original 1982 film, as in it will be ignoring the 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer and the recent Jason Momoa Conan.

Apart from Arnie signing on the dotted line and Chris Morgan having written the outline and producing - little else is known about the film, apart from the fact that if Arnie has signed on, it should happen.

Meanwhile Arnie seems to be going straight from one film to the next. First up is, 'The Last Stand' which sees Sheriff Arnie protecting his border town of Sommerton Junction from a drug baron and his gang who are trying to flee across the border. Judging by the trailer it promises to be excellent fun. It will be hitting cinemas around the world from January 2013.

After 2 cameos with Sly Stallone, he's back with the old Italian stallion in 'The Tomb' a prison thriller with Arnie as an old lag who helps structural engineer Sly escape from the prison that he himself designed to be escape-proof. Even though filming is finished, we're going to have to wait till next Autumn to see it. Good director -  Mikael Håfström and a good cast with Sam Neill,  Jim Caviezel,  Vincent D'Onofrio and Vinnie Jones (type-cast as usual, I suspect) adding meat to the Arnie and Sly pairing. (It's the most sharing of screen time between the two so far.)

He's listed on IMDB in the film 'Unknown Soldier' an action/fantasy with a screenplay by Kevin Elders and Sergio Altieri. No director is listed and its status is given as - pre-production - production delayed. (Probably because they've no director)

At the moment Arnie is shooting 'Ten' with David Ayer directing a Skip Woods (Remember 'Thursday') script, where members of an elite DEA task force find themselves being taken down one by one after they rob a drug cartel safe house. Arnie is playing the head of the task force with Sam Worthington buddying up to the big man. Judging by Arnie's tweeted pic of himself in full war regalia on the film's set,  with an excellent hair cut which knocks years of him, it's sure to be bloody good stuff.

I have been trying to forget about it, but if I'm to include all the upcoming movies with Arnie attached, I have to mention 'Triplets' with Eddie Murphy planned as the third bro. It's still in the early stages - it's still being written - but I hope it never gets made. It's better for Arnie and his fans that he sticks to the hard action roles and not dip his toes back into comedy. (self-parody in the likes of The Expendables, accepted)
