Let us give a thought to the following aphorisms :
Dominance of money over man is Capitalism;
Dominance of commune over man is Communism
Dominance of power over man is Politics
Dominance of machine over man is Technology
Dominance of vote (number) over man is democracy.
Obviously these aphorisms are not definitions per se, but they reflect the realities of life, or don't they?
What have these got to do with SF?
Surely, these have got everything to do with the quality of life on earth. And SF ought to be concerned with pondering over the cause and effect of various processes, thoughts and ideologies in life that affect its quality.
No wonder, due to above dominances man is suffering everywhere today. Balance in the above dualities is the demand of today. How to achieve that balance when money, commune, power, machine and vote are dominant over man?
