'A Rebellious Mind' imagines fight for liberty in future oligarchic U.S

A Rebellious Mind, a novel by KC Thompson, tells the story of Charles Johnson, a top chemist for the United States government 30 years from now, who sets out to find why his memories of family and childhood have been erased.

In Thompson's future, the U.S. has been ruled by an evil oligarchic Supreme Council following a bloody civil war. When Johnson begins having nightmares about people and places he cannot recall, he turns to the Liberty Tree organization, an underground anti-government movement committed to re-establishing the American republic. Johnson and the Liberty Tree leaders must work to restore his memory and bring about revolutionary change before they are stopped by Security Regent Peloreid, the brutal chief of the capital's security forces, and his minions.

"The book demonstrates the modern-day dangers of allowing government to gain too much power," says Thompson. "But it also shows that some people will fight for years against the evils inflicted."

A futuristic political thriller with a heavily conservative political slant, the novel's setting was shaped by recent increases in governmental control and a theory of the stages of democracy often attributed to Alexander Tytler. The book was written to engage, entertain and inspire thought about the potential future of the American people.

About the Author:

KC Thompson lives in upstate New York with his wife, two children and mother-in-law (he would like to have a dog as well but his wife will not allow it). Thompson has been an avid reader of books on history and politics from an early age. This love combined with his desire to do something he had always wanted to accomplish and resulted in the writing of his first novel, "A Rebellious Mind."
