Mother Can I Trust The Government?

Not a soul to rely on,
Not a soul to trust.
Mother, you’re the only one I am safe with.

Everyone belongs to a religion,
A community, a class.
Is no one a human?
Is this world not ours?

People play this narrow game- Politics,
And everyone’s got a narrow mind
And nothing's left to unwind.

They fight among themselves
And oppose growth and development.
They display their hatred
By killing innocents
And bombarding other nations.
Is this the change we need?
Is this what the government does for us?
Leaders of men stand and give speeches
But what about the actions they talk of?

A time will come
When every child born will ask his mother
The question I ask you today
“Mother, can I trust the government”?
