Poetry

Waste of Time

President Obama rules politics, education plummets down the drain, poor homeless live on side of road.

Poets:

Pomegranate Rain

We are beaten warriors,
shackles bind us to our defeat.
Singing legendary chants, we cry out on our knees.

Cries of terror echo in my ears,
animals wander around the battlefield, sound of gunshots emerge.
We breathe dirt in prayer that our leader will bring victory.

Sacrifice imprints crosses in the dirt,
I swear in oath to fight until the end.

Poets:

Big Meeting at the Corporate Office

When a young woman like that sails into the conference room, all masts billowing, there's nothing the men around the table can do except take a breath

Poets:

Man at the Bus Stop on Halloween

The others, of course, are more rabid than he but less apt to show it. Whenever he strikes, he never romps off.

Poets:

With Him

Look so pretty you
no sound floats
out of my mouth

Poets:

Gift, with a Note, for My Wife

If the women
I go to work with,
and in the car pool

travel home with,
if they can wrap themselves
the way they do,

then I suggest that you,
if only to protect us, dear,
then I suggest that you

wear one of these
those evenings
we are idle.

Poets:

GELO of Syracuse and 47%

And from his supporters, against the Gamori,

by the 47%, the city saved.

But surprise of surprises, the wealthy invited back.

And for their effort, sweat, blood tears,

47 % to slavery sold,

The common folk were not to be loved

as most unpleasant companions.

Poets:

Death Has Dominion

Officer Burks brings Max
the Bloodhound
into the alley
and Max immediately
strains at his leash.
He's onto the scent
of a killer.

Poets:

HIGH SCHOOL HAIKU

Hochschule cuties

Painted-on-skin-tightly black

Teachers concentrate.
